Before founding TwinMind, I spent 6+ years leading applied AI at Google X, JPMorgan, and Wolfram, specializing in time-series, NLP, and generative AI. Prior to that, I pioneered real-time AI for detecting gravitational waves as part of the Nobel Prize–winning LIGO team. I also worked on HPC at Los Alamos National Lab and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). We just published the details of how Oura detects ovulations in JMIR (Thigpen et al., 2025). It was especially important to me in developing this work that our algorithm works for everyone, not just those with regular cycles but also those with irregular cycles, abnormal patterns, and those nearing perimenopause. 🔬 Results are in: ✅ 96% of ovulations detected ✅ Average error: 1.3 days (That’s ~3x more accurate than the traditional calendar method and 6x for those with abnormal cycles.) Coincidentally, Apple Watch published its ovulation detection results the same week! Their approach is still a major step up from calendar-based methods, but when it comes to accuracy, Oura holds the edge—Apple Watch reported detecting 71% of ovulations with an average error of 1.7 days. This is a huge step for wearable fertility tracking. The results are actually quite surprising! I gave OpenAI ChatGPT 4o, Perplexity Pro, You.com Genius Mode, Google Gemini Advanced, X.com Grok 2, and Microsoft Copilot the exact same query: "Make a table of LinkedIn profiles of Aravind Srinivas CEO of Perplexity, Richard Socher CEO of You.com, Sundar Pichai CEO of Google, Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft, Elon Musk CEO of X.com, and Sam Altman CEO of OpenAI." (and another query for their Twitter profiles) This is a trick question with a twist—Elon Musk and Sam Altman don't have LinkedIn profiles! Perfect way to test for hallucinations. Perplexity Pro won, but ironically the only thing it got wrong was its own CEO Aravind Srinivas's Twitter profile! :D Which AI app do you find the most reliable? AI research once dismissed as “not real science” wins the Nobel Prizes in both Physics and Chemistry! Back in 2017 my research papers on AI applications in Astrophysics were initially rejected because the peer reviewers thought AI was a “black box” and didn’t qualify as “real science”. Many professors in my department also felt the same way. It took a whole year before they finally got published in 2018—and now they’ve been cited over 1,000 times. Just like it’s impossible to do science without using mathematics, I believe that soon all scientific research will be done using AI! Now everything I own weighs less than 15 pounds and fits into one backpack. It's true what they say—the things you own end up owning you. 2) It's actually cheaper to travel all year and stay in 4/5-star hotels around the world than to live in a small apartment in the Bay Area or NYC. 3) Credit card hacks really work! I signed up for 20 credit cards, earned over 3 million points, and used them for $100,000 worth of hotels and business-class flights. 4) The world is both bigger and smaller than you think. It's amazing how much culture, food, architecture, behavior, and wealth vary across different places, yet humans are fundamentally the same wherever you go. 5) While this was an incredible experience, I felt I had a higher purpose—to work together with a team of exceptional people to build something impactful. This is the proudest release of my career :) At Liquid AI, we're launching three LLMs (1B, 3B, 40B MoE) with SOTA performance, based on a custom architecture. Minimal memory footprint & efficient inference bring long context tasks to edge devices for the first time! 📊 Performance We optimized LFMs to maximize knowledge capacity and multi-step reasoning. As a result, our 1B and 3B models significantly outperform transformer-based models in various benchmarks. And it scales: our 40B MoE (12B activated) is competitive with much bigger dense or MoE models. 🧠 Memory footprint The LFM architecture is also super memory efficient. While the KV cache in transformer-based LLMs explodes with long contexts, we keep it minimal, even with 1M tokens. This unlocks new applications, like document and book analysis with RAG, directly in your browser or on your phone. 🪟 Context window In this preview release, we focused on delivering the best-in-class 32k context window. These results are extremely promising, but we want to expand it to very, very long contexts.
