This past month hasn't been easy, but taking a look at these photos makes it better. I was given the amazing opportunity to participate in Mercer University's Mercer on Mission. I chose to go to South Korea because I wanted to help North Korean refugees learn English and acquire engineering skills they could later use in their careers. A couple of my colleagues and I were responsible for leading our LEGO EV3 Robotics course. We created lesson plans and instructions for the students to follow. They were able to learn how different types of sensors worked for the robot and how to program them as well. For the English classes, I was chosen to teach the highest level with a couple other Mercer students, Level 6. We were tasked to create more complex lesson plans than the other levels since our students were well aware of the English basics. They learned how to create poems and rhyme in English and different types of holidays around the world. I also wanted to learn more about South Korean history and culture. Our group learned more about the Korean Military's Excavation Program for Korean War Remains. We had the pleasure to walk around Deoksugung Palace. We toured the beautiful Independence Hall of Korea. During our free time, I got to experience the heart of Seoul. I truly cherish these memories I have made and am honored to have had the chance to make a difference in others' lives. I made so many connections along the way that I still hold dearly now. It was the best experience I could ask for. She did it again!! Last year my lovely daughter walked across the same stage to receiver her Bachelors of Science in Engineering where she focused on Biomedical Engineering. Yesterday she received her Masters of Science in Engineering where she focused on Software Engineering!! I thank god every day for watching, guiding, protecting and blessing both of my children. Without him none of this would be possible 🙏🏽💖 #proudmercermom #2023bear
