On April 29,2024 I gave my first pitch back in my hometown to one of the hospital there. But the seeds were actually planted back in January 2022. That was when my Mother was diagnosed with fatty liver, high cholesterol, and other fluctuating vitals. Experiencing firsthand how fragmented and inefficient our healthcare system truly changed everything for me. It’s one thing to hear about it and another to live through it. 🥺 A doctor in my hometown, with barely a minute of his time, mentioned a potential liver transplant for my mother as if it were a casual comment. No empathy, no further explanation—just a prescription scribbled out in seconds. It was a wake-up call. Later, when we sought treatment in top hospital nearest tier 1 city, I saw how patients are treated based on their socio-economic background. This journey wasn’t just about my mother’s health; it was a catalyst and me identifying a big problem in Indian healthcare ecosystem. It made me realize the massive gap in our healthcare system and how patients often feel like just another number in a file rather than human beings in need of care. I silently promised my mother that I’d change this. That’s when the vision was born and started researching and talking with doctors. Let’s look at the data: 📍India ranks 145th among 195 countries in terms of quality and accessibility of healthcare services. 📍Nearly 55 million Indians are pushed into poverty every year due to out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. 📍Over 80% of healthcare professionals are concentrated in urban areas, leaving a vast rural population underserved and underdiagnosed. Nerves were high, but I knew one thing: the pain of regret is greater than the pain of failure. So, I took a deep breath, gave it my all, and secured the deal.
