About
Hi ! I am Dhravya Shah. A 19-year-old full-stack developer with a passion for building things that people love. I've built robust and scalable web applications, a Twitter bot that serves more than 50 thousand people (has 5M+ impressions) and a discord bot that used to serve more than 100k people, along with a lot of other fun and interesting projects. I like writing code in Typescript and python. I also like to try Rust and Golang. Recently, I've been exploring the world of App development and I'm loving it. I've built a few apps using React native for both Android and iOS. I love learning and always open to exploring new things! In my free time, I love to Cycle, listen to music, play guitar, ukulele, and table tennis. Positions: Developer Relations at Cloudflare (2025 - 2025), Engineering Intern at Cloudflare (2024 - 2024), AI Engineer at Mem0 (YC S24) (2023 - 2023), Full-stack Developer at Hypefury (2023 - 2023) Skills: Entrepreneurship, Remotion, Vue.js, Firebase, Twitter API, Mobile Application Development, React Native, Mobile Design, Web Development, React.js, Communication, Problem Solving, Python (Programming Language), English, Enthusiasm Recent Posts: From a confused 16 year old in Mumbai, To an 18 year old with 2 acquired apps living in US!🚀 Dhravya's story was really inspiring for me to hear when I met him in San Francisco.🙏 The podcast I shot with him is out NOW! He shared his story of building discord boys and then building a bot hosting platform which he sold to start his indie hacker journey. He was working on as much as 74 tools in 2023. He'd have an idea and he would go ahead and build its prototype in days. I love his passion for building and I wish more people learn about this and get started.💯 Dhravya #startup #developer #business #career #entrepreneur #youtube #podcast Introducing Supermemory ✨ Your own personal AI second brain for all your saved stuff on the internet. At 18, he is working towards building Radish, an open source alternative to Redis. The most popular database in the world, Redis, decided to change its licence terms a few weeks ago. The earlier completely open source platform is now under ‘source available’ licence, which means that it is publicly available, but with certain restrictions for using the code commercially. Being a fan of Redis, Shah told that he was devastated by the news. He was learning GoLang that time, and he got deep into how Redis actually used to work, figuring out all the commands, data structures, and algorithms. And in just a few hours, he had a working Redis server. Even though the project works well, it still has a lot to be done including the streams, bitmaps, hyperlog, clustering, and more. “It is battle tested. But should you use it for production? Probably not,” Shah said. Shah said that for 10001 MB requests, Radish can do the get and set in 10 seconds, whereas Redis can do the same in about four seconds. “It’s not bad but that’s only because of a design flaw in mine that I can fix,” he added. Along with Radish, he is currently also working on Super Memory, which he explains, is like a ChatGPT for bookmarks, which can be used to take notes on the browser based on user history as well for context. “It can basically be a second brain for you, which was the idea,” he added. The repository now has around 2k stars on GitHub. so i guess redis is not open source anymore i made an (almost) one to one replacement of redis sounds crazy? but wait... i made it in two days this week was really crazy!!! best team 🌟 A Weekend of Innovation and Triumph: Dual Hackathon Victories! 🌟 This past weekend was nothing short of extraordinary for my team and me. We had the privilege of participating in two prestigious hackathons, emerging victorious in both competitions through dedication, creativity, and teamwork. 🏆 WICS Coding Competition: Alongside my talented friends, Saurabh Zinjad and Dhravya Shah we dived into the annual coding challenge with a mission to devise real-world solutions through Data Structures and Algorithms. It was a thrilling journey of problem-solving and innovation, culminating in us securing the third place. This achievement is a testament to our team's ability to tackle complex problems with strategic thinking and technical prowess. 🚀 Los Alamos National Laboratory Hackathon: With the incredible team comprising Saurabh Zinjad, Rohan Awhad, Saee Pangarkar, Ananya, and Dhravya Shah, we embarked on a challenge to make a significant impact. We developed an innovative in-situ pipeline for producing explosives, addressing the critical need for implementing high-explosive smart sensors during the production process. Our solution aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of explosives development by enabling real-time observation of crucial parameters. This innovation earned us the prize for the most innovative prototype, a recognition of our commitment to advancing technology for national security and defense. A Heartfelt Thank You: None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and guidance from our mentors and Judges Lucy S., Kayla Martinez, Dung Vu and Michael Ray who have been our beacon of knowledge and inspiration. Their expertise and encouragement have been pivotal in our journey. To my team, your passion, intelligence, and camaraderie have been the cornerstone of our success. Each of you has contributed uniquely and profoundly, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. As we share this moment of pride and joy, we are eager to explore new horizons and tackle more challenges ahead. We hope our journey inspires others and catches the eye of industry leaders looking for passionate innovators. #Innovation #Teamwork #HackathonSuccess #Technology #EngineeringExcellence #CareerGrowth I'm excited to join Cloudflare as a summer intern this year! Cloudflare is a company that essentially runs a major portion of the internet - and makes it a better, faster, and more secure place for all of us. And I am thrilled to say that I will be helping to build a better internet. why, what and how i built notty.dhr.wtf Introducing Notty notes - A powerful AI-powered note taking app - Write and search (using Embedchain) your notes using AI - Bulit local first - With cloud sync (blazing fast) - OPEN SOURCE! https://lnkd.in/gj4nscjN) Check it out. It's a clutter free replacement for your noisy notion page - https://notty.dhr.wtf Now here's the story: I've always been on a lookout for a note taking app that is just a blank canvas and nothing else. Just jot down. So, I started jotting things down in an app called Novel. But - I had a lot of things to write, and novel is just one page. And as I started writing a lot, I realised how difficult and annoying it is when I would get stuck. I'd get stuck staring at the white blinking cursor with no idea what to write I'd get ANNOYED when I had to find that one thing I wrote a while back And so, I built notty to fix all of these problems with AI I quickly built out a prototype of the app and all my friends *loved* it. I've been talking about it on twitter and already gotten such a positive response So much so, that I realised this could mean something. If this isn't PMF, what is? "I've been enjoying using it after i saw your tweet. Been really enjoying the no distraction Ul!& d You've made something real good" "dude, I've been using this. This is awesome" Real feedback, from real people. Hell yeah! Even without talking about it much, or making a video (as I always do on instagram), it has 48(!!!) stars. (It's open source - https://lnkd.in/gj4nscjN) In the last 3 days, more than 2300 notes have already been made! And I haven't even launched - just soft-launched on twitter, talking about the product now and then. Try it out https://notty.dhr.wtf Give me whatever feedback you have, let's make this the lightweight, fast notion competitor. Thanks to Taranjeet Singh for so much support so far. I've been loving using embedchain and integrating it into my projects. With embedchain, making AI apps is a breeze. Last year, I made 12 products a lot of them failed, some got hundreds of thousands of users and followers here's a fun video about everything I made, and how they turned out :) Winner of AI war? NVIDIA. Inflection.ai raised 1.3 BILLION dollars and all this money is almost directly going to Nvidia (inflection as a company is amazing and its nice to see someone competing against OpenAI) https://lnkd.in/gMtdGRuH We won Hackprinceton!! with Dhanush Vardhan We won Hackprinceton! with Dhanush Vardhan WE WON SUNHACKS (last week) Just redesigned my portfolio website! Check it out - https://dhravya.dev "What if there was an app that recorded your voice, took a song and then transposed the chords and matched them automatically?" AutoChords - Your personalized music companion! Last week at sunhacks, my first hackathon, Dhravya Shah and I built exactly this... AND WE WON! It was a 24 hour hackthon held at Arizona State University and I must say I had a great time! Learning and building this app from scratch alongside a seasoned web developer who I'm lucky to call a friend was an experience to remember! We plan on growing autochords over the next few months hoping to make it big within the music community. WE WON CALHACKS Hey LinkedIn! If you’re new to following me, I talk about {0} and {1}. I create content on instagram, I'm gonna start reposting it all here too! https://lnkd.in/g-_XetQR 3 days to create a web app that generates an educational video complete with pictures, text, audio, and captions using just a simple text input sounds impossible (or at the very least extremely challenging) right? But even as one of the only teams of first-year students at the ASU ScaleU - AI in Education hackathon, that's exactly what Dhravya Shah, Dhanush Vardhan, Aryan Keluskar and I were able to accomplish using modern AI tools and loads of (head-breaking) code. Our team ended up getting an honorable mention! Although we didn't win, we still had an amazing experience and got to meet a bunch of extremely cool people who I hope to work with in the future. A huge thank you to everyone involved in the event. (P.S.: the picture showcases an actual demo of our tool generating a video on the French Revolution. Pretty cool stuff!) #hackathon #ai #education #edtech #coding #tech What if I tell you that you can make an AI chatbot in less than 5 lines of code? In this short video, Ill tell you about embedchain by Taranjeet Singh and all its cool features! Introducing Dark Mode for https://novel.sh 🎉 Built with CSS variables + #tailwindcss + next-themes by Paco Coursey. Bonus – all text highlight colors are dark mode compatible too 😁 Kudos to Dhravya Shah for the PR: https://lnkd.in/gbEMb6PC In the last few months, I've seen dozens of apps, big and small (Including mine!) either dying or completely transitioning because of 'platform risk' 😔 What is platform risk? Is it worth building products on top of Twitter, reddit, discord? Here are both sides of the coin 🧵 Platform risk is basically building your business on top of another business, which means you're relying on that business, or it's users, to share some of the revenue. The 'platform' gives you resources, users, visibility and a lot more. And you help the users of that platform. Let's first go over the advantages of building on top of other apps and powerful APIs In 2021, I started work on a small discord bot, called Spacebot. It was an amazing project that grew very fast, and it was my entry to programming, I love discord because- It was a real-world app I would use on discord daily. It also introduced me to the product side of things - managing users, growth, scaling up the technology, hosting Things that tutorials/books don't teach you. Because I was on Discord, visibility was superb. So, 10k+ users would use my bot daily, report errors to me, which I would solve, add new features etc. This made me a better developer. But there was no revenue, so I started freelancing. Then, in 2022, I made a random afternoon project that probably changed my life (@poet_this) This was, once again, a very simple bot - which generated images of tweets. I had a similar experience all over again, but this time on an even bigger scale. I got recognition, I got money. I got a job. The bot hit 50,000 followers and had 5 Million + impressions. What could go wrong? Twitter announced that they are monetising the API. I saw so many of my favourite Twitter bots die, I saw @blackmagic_so (a profitable business) die, Birdy, and many Twitter clients All gone, in a snap! I was lucky to be able to sell my project and exit. This is what's happening with Reddit, once again. This has led to Apollo, my favourite Twitter client also dying off. What a shame! Charging money is not the problem, but you can only get as big as the platform, after which it will try to kill you (by charging a shit ton) So what do we learn? Building on APIs can be an amazing opportunity for growth and revenue. And in many cases, it is actually a great idea to "Build where your users are" - also a great way to learn! Everything we make has platform risk. Websites rely on internet providers. But it is also important to know that as indie developers, these platforms are not friends, and sadly enough, not only do you have to bet on that platform not shutting down, you also have to be in good terms with them. Enterprise customers can stay happy because 🤑 What do you think? India is amazing. But the tech space really has some big problems. Here are some of my thoughts, but also, how this problem is actually fixable. We want to compete against giants and celebrate how advanced we are, but we aren't open to humiliation and have a huge ego - "We are already better" but there's no ecosystem. - There is no one tech leader of India. No one to look up to. There are business leaders, sure. - People are money-driven, not passion-driven. Passion brings money in the long run, not only for individuals but also for a country. - We don't have data centres, infra, or anything. Because making all that requires investment without many prospects for business. This is pure development, something almost as important as roads and buildings, but for the Internet. But what about the tech hubs? Bangalore? Mumbai? Sure - there are amazing engineers and designers but they are stuck in startups that are sadly dying. It's true - "No country could create UPI haha" because they legitimately don't need to, they have other solutions that work for them. "Indian startup ecosystem is so good" But there are barely people who are willing to fund projects. We look at profits as growth, instead of impact. We mock startups that are operating at losses, we demotivate people who try and label them as "failures". There are no proper communities of techies, no skill, no peer learning, nothing. Is this how India will advance? Till when do we keep lying to ourselves? "India will become the next superpower" - not until we have "Netscape"-s that fails but revolutionize the internet, not until we have Steve Jobs -like visionaries, that actually innovate with passion. Startups aren't to blame for this, but there's also a common trend of "Copy what works in US" - which is good, it's still progress, but it's not innovation. What latest company have you heard that's an Indian spinoff of an American company? "But Steve Jobs got the idea from india" "But Sam altman thinks india is superpower" bullshit. We have a lot to learn, a lot to grow. Let's not stay stuck in this self-fueling ego cycle, have some humility and work towards the future instead of constantly celebrating the past or things others say about us. India’s progress is amazing. I say this because now I can confidently leave my house without carrying any cash. UPI is accepted everywhere, even the local unorganised shops. I find this kinda insane. How did we do it so quickly? Cloned voices using AI are now being used to scam people, where 77% of victims lose money acc. to a report by McAfee, 53% of all adults share their voice online at least once a week. (src - https://dhr.wtf/QmxQ) How these scams work and how to protect yourself 🧵 India is the most affected by these scams, with 47% of respondents saying they had either been a victim themselves (20%) or knew somebody else who had (27%). And well, I'm scared. I also have my voice out there on the internet Your loved one may get a call, where you would be explaining to them how you got into an accident/robbery and need urgent money. Would you respond and share money if you received a voicemail or voicenote from a family member or friend, based on the following situations? How to protect against these scams? - Ask a challenge question to the scammer. Something like "Hey did you meet grandma yesterday? She called me and wasn't feeling well" - Set a codeword among your family and friends - Never let your emotions take over Remember - it just takes a one minute snippet of your voice to create a clone. AI is amazing, and this tech has a lot of advantages to our lives, but as with all new tech, this can be used for ill purposes. It's inevitable Stay safe guys I got an Expert skillscore on Educative, Inc.'s assessment test on first attempt!! 999/1000
