Right now the industry has effectively three options: 1️⃣ Hire in-house video teams and hope that they can adapt to modern social creative treatments which is the most cost efficient but also has a sliver of available talent pool. 2️⃣ Hire small creative agencies that specialize in TikTok creator sourcing, briefing, and production which is still somewhat more affordable but often comes with insanely unpredictable creative return and they barely understand media plans and specs. 3️⃣ Hire big agencies who ultimately just hire the small agencies 🙄 and charge you a bajillion dollars. I think the solution is a hybrid approach: A small production shop that has a roster of in-house iPhone creative directors and shooters that specialize in short-form 10-second ad creation who can handle casting, on-set content capture, ideation, and work directly with media agencies to ensure delivery of final assets to spec. OR It goes with my belief that the future Creative Director are social media creatives like Zaria Parvez and Sarah Whittle who not only know how to make brand content but also crush it at personal content. I’m not 100% on anything but I do know this is the amongst the biggest headaches that paid and performance media VPs across industries are trying to solve for right now. 🖖 Finally in my "see an opp, share an opp" era. I love that Kickstarter does this every year - but every year, I forget until it's too late. Been discussing creative output and entrepreneurial projects recently and keep hearing that I have to start small. What's something you can do in one weekend? Well look at this here! I have been on teams across the entire safety spectrum and it is crushing to your spirit when you start a project or new job feeling inspired… only to continue to hit roadblocks from the palpable distrust lingering around seasoned team members. It’s even harder when you look back and see how you never were able to do your best work because of it. Try as we might, no one is immune to the effects of feeling unsafe at work. Especially when telling ourselves we NEED this job. Or even we DESERVE this job. ✨✨ A company culture that empowers your team to take ownership of their work turns into that team taking ownership of setting the whole team up for success. For example: if your manager is able to acknowledge their own mistakes and take accountability for them, that would immediately turn into a sense of safety for the team to do the same. “Those might be the most important four words any leader can say: ‘I screwed that up.“ This turns into a willingness to take risks, aim high, and never make excuses. We are empowered by being vulnerable - safety makes failure a cornerstone of success. 👏🏽These teams help each other outside of their “job descriptions”. 🧱These teams have pride in their work and understand their impact. 📈These teams take ownership over the business’ success. 💯These teams fail forward, and are open to criticism. 🚌These teams never throw each other under the bus. “Exchanges of vulnerability, which we naturally tend to avoid, are the pathway through which trusting cooperation is built.” TLDR; Safety is so important. But wait, shouldn’t the announcement of bad news make the stock price go down? No. This was great news! Netflix previously projected losing 2 million subscribers in Q2. So even though they lost almost 1 million subscribers, they still beat expectations. Beating expectations means the stock goes up. Why? Because the lower stock price was based on the assumption that Netflix would lose 2 million subscribers. It was already “baked into the price”. Once we realized that assumption was wrong, the stock needed to course-correct. - Bottom Line: The stock market is forward-looking. Stock prices are based on future expectations. If you read an article yesterday, it’s too late. That news is already reflected in the stock price. I see newer investors get tripped up by this. Stock prices are constantly and immediately getting re-priced based on new information. Meanwhile over at South Congress Hotel I will be activating Cyvatar’s CYBRVERSE (an XR art gallery experience that crosses into music, visual, physical, performance, nft, in service for, the virtual, the meditative, the sound accession and ——more)- for the first (and hopefully) not last, time. When I developed the concept, I was driven by the need to curate something that could leverage the company’s core structure as an advantage. I wanted to make the inaccessible concepts of a product / and the knowledge that would empower users and SHOULD be accessible by now - a physical experience that was equal part exhilarating and fun as it would be impactful. I pondered, articulating the thoughts that suddenly became a download into my mind - and wrote my Brief. “This is how I want to make your why physical and it may sound crazy but trust me I’m the right girl for the job.” And then… something abstract in my brain became the project details on my computer screen today. The phone calls, the exchanges of delight involved with this new space that I am spearheading and using as a means to connect and embrace the work of the people I admire the most? I’m just grateful for it all. To say I was inspired by the Meow Wolf team would be a major understatement. But in a delightful way, the team at Cyvatar are different. Their why has a more grounded energy lending to this power, a need for the new age in Cybersecurity to finally come. A system built on love and action when it comes to the product they deliver. Education, proactiveity, and then follow thru as a service? That lends to accessibility. So at SXSW in lieu of their debut at an official panel, we’re closing the tech track by extending this same why to the NFT space. And yes Spatial is the ticket to sustaining this vision far beyond one epic Wednesday. ~~Thanks for reading.
